Module 1 - Lesson 2: Letters and Sounds.

Objective of the lesson: You will get familiar with the sounds and letters in Spanish. This will enable you to pronounce and understand correctly the words in Spanish.

Speaking Goal: Pronounce correctly a list of words in Spanish and put in practice some useful phrases to ask for meanings.

Activity

Choose three words and spell them.

Speaking Practice
  • 1. Pronounce these words and then listen to the audio to check your answer.

    queso, manzana, taza, jirafa, paraguas, pingüino, cigüeña, tequila, perro, agenda, girasol, gota, cereza, zorro.

  • 2. What would you say in this situations? (You can find "Useful Spanish" phrases at the end of the page that will help you with this activity).

    • You want to know the translation of the word "plumber"
    • You didn't understand what your partner said. Thus, you want him to repeat it.
    • Your friend is speaking way too fast Spanish. You want him to slow down.
    • You can't listen to what your friend is saying because he speaks softly.

For this listening excercise you need to be familiar with the numbers (0-100). If you are not, I strongly suggest you take a look to this.  We are playing bingo. Listen and write the numbers that you hear and then, check your answers.
